Animal Signs

Does anyone know if seeing a particular animal is sginificant of anything? In one of the Celestine Prophecy books (Tenth Insight?) by James Redfield (on Barbel's suggested reading list) there is mention that if you see a rabbit or an eagle or something, then it is supposed to mean something.

I gotta say that I think it does mean something (maybe that I am on the right path) but I wonder if each animal means something specific?

I ask because Dragon Flies, woodpeckers and buzzards have been turning up recently and I live in suburbia.

Does anyone have any info on this or know where I could look for some?

Hi Nicola,

in shamanism animals play an important role, they are considered the bearers of messages and omens. It is believed that we all are accompanied by an animal spirit guide.

You will find a lot of information if you google.

I am intrigued to think I have the spirit of an animal with me.

That was just the sort of info I was after.

I lived in South America for many years and have worked there with various shamans. I have not given the topic much attention the last few years, but animals of all kind continue to be in amazing ways present in my life. My interest is rekindled again looking at that wonderful website.

I just wanted to thank you again for the link to that site. Really its been so useful. This week I have had two dreams: the first with a thin black snake coming out of my nose(!) - not a good one

and the second about getting stuck on a rocky ledge by a deep pool where an otter came out and started playing in front of me and diving off the ledge into the pool looking at me and keeping me company - a lovely one.

So thanks again, it has been really good to be able to give some sense of meaning to the images in my dreams.

Try 'Ted Andrews - Animal Speak' it's a real good book about Animal Spirits.
